X factor Xed

Mariah Carey

Simon Cowell has been forced to rule Mariah Carey out of his The X Factor judging panel - because the pregnant singer will be too busy with her twins when the TV talent show begins.

The music mogul has been desperate to recruit Carey for the upcoming American version of his hit U.K. TV talent show, which launched the career of British singer Leona Lewis.

But Cowell will have to find another star for the job - because the Hero hitmaker will need plenty of time off after she gives birth to her babies this spring (11).

He tells the Los Angeles Times, "I can tell you officially that Mariah will not be on the panel, mainly because I think she's still gonna be pregnant at the time we start filming and she's gonna need some time off.

"She couldn't start working straight away, and they're long days."

However, Cowell insists there is a good chance Carey will appear on the show when the live singing rounds kick off in the autumn (11).

He adds, "She wants to be involved... we're hopeful there will be a role for her - and I'm not sure what yet - on the live shows."

Last week (ends20Mar11), it was confirmed producer L.A. Reid will take one of the three seats next to Cowell on the judging panel.

Mariah Carey celebrated the upcoming birth of her twins by living it up at a baby shower in Beverly Hills. Apparently a restaurant at the Montage Hotel was "transformed into a blue and pink wonderland" for the singer, since much to my dismay she's having both a boy and a girl. The event was adults only, which is nice to hear; no child should be subjected to hanging out with Mariah Carey for an afternoon, which doesn't bode well for the two she's about to birth. It's also reported that at the shower there was plenty of champagne flowing, which hopefully made it tolerable for the guests. Mariah reportedly got tons of gifts, including two almost life-sized stuffed giraffes. Great, I'm sure that household has a huge lack of stuffed animals. Whatever, all in all the hefty mom-to-be had a great time and it was exactly what she needed. A source said that Mariah "has been feeling a bit tired and worn out lately," which explains her appearance

embarrassed

 Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey is the latest celebrity to reply to reports that she accepted cost to perform for Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi.

In an announcement, Carey said she was “naïve and unaware of who I used to be booked to perform for. I really feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess."

The singer's statement comes on the heels of comparable bulletins from fellow stars Beyoncé and Nelly Furtado, who have also come below fireplace for accepting cash to carry out for Gadhafi and his family.

Furtado lately announced that she would donate the $1 million she obtained to charity. Beyoncé has mentioned the money she acquired has already gone to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.

Carey added in her assertion that she'll know better subsequent time.

"Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from," she said. "We have to be extra aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable
