
Mariah Carey is the latest celebrity to reply to reports that she accepted cost to perform for Libyan leader Muammar Gadhafi.
In an announcement, Carey said she was “naïve and unaware of who I used to be booked to perform for. I really feel horrible and embarrassed to have participated in this mess."
The singer's statement comes on the heels of comparable bulletins from fellow stars Beyoncé and Nelly Furtado, who have also come below fireplace for accepting cash to carry out for Gadhafi and his family.
Furtado lately announced that she would donate the $1 million she obtained to charity. Beyoncé has mentioned the money she acquired has already gone to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
Carey added in her assertion that she'll know better subsequent time.
"Going forward, this is a lesson for all artists to learn from," she said. "We have to be extra aware and take more responsibility regardless of who books our shows. Ultimately we as artists are to be held accountable
